I was looking at the Denton County P25 and noticed that there are no dispatch TG for local PD on the Denton County system. Can an admin confirm if the data is missing? I remember seeing a section with local PD talk groups.
Thanks.

Was there a particular PD you were looking for?

Corinth and Hickory Creek does appear to have their own Dispatch Channels:

I'm not familiar enough with Denton County's TRS operations (living just 2 miles East into Collin County, I primarily monitor Collin County and Frisco) but if its like Collin County, most of the smaller departments maybe are dispatched by the SO, or patrolled by the SO directly instead of having their own PD.

Look at the old, deprecated, system:

Among the talkgroups were Patrol 1, Patrol 2, & Patrol 3, all of them labeled as Dispatch.. I'm not in Denton, but I believe that Patrol 1 was used for the Sheriff's Office, with Patrol 2 used to dispatch the smaller cities that were on the system. At the time the system was marked as deprecated (no longer in use), there were no talkgroups labeled as "Small PD dispatch".

Now, look at the P25 Phase II system:

You have talkgroups there as well for Patrol 1, Patrol 2, and Patrol 3. Patrols 1 & 2 are labeled with the service type for Law Dispatch, though Patrol 3 is labeled as "Law Tac".

However, I did pull up an old programming file for my semi-retired PSR500, dating back to 2012. TGID on the old system. 592, which was labeled as "Patrol 2" when the Type II system was shut down, at one point had been labeled as "Small PD Dispatch". That's how I programmed it back then, and I did not change the name to Patrol 2, since my reception on the old, as well as the new system, is marginal. I'm southwest of downtown Dallas.

Take the old TGID 592 & divide it by 16 to get the P25 Phase II TGID, and you get TGID 37, currently labeled as Patrol 2. So this is simply a labeling issue, in that you are not seeing a specific name for a talkgroup, but it is present.

You'll probably find the Denton County wiki very useful. Check it out below. I haven't listened lately, so things may have changed. On that page many of the local PD's unit number ranges are listed with the Patrol (1, 2, or 3) that they are typically on. There's no obvious pattern to me. It's probably just based on spreading the volume of calls over different channels for the dispatchers.

Denton County was and may still be splitting the smaller departments north and south of 380 across 2 and 3. Later this year Denton PD will begin dispatching for Little Elm PD as well so they most likely will be moving to their own channel with Denton PD dispatchers handling their calls.
