• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

I am pretty sure Derry Township has their own dispatch center and dispatchers that are referred to as "Derry" instead of "County" but every once and a while, like just now, I hear what sounds like a county dispatcher talk to a Derry PD unit using the name "Derry". This last time was when an officer accidentally hit his emergency button. Does anybody know if Dauphin County also dispatches for them? Or are their voices just super similar?

Derry Twp. has their own dispatch, but only handles PD. Dauphin Co. handles Fire/EMS.

The last time it was suggested Dauphin take over, the county estimated at least 1 channel to handle Derry's workload, possibly 2 during the crazy busy summer days with multiple events.

Voices probably sound the same. I know when I moved counties for a job, I swore up and down I heard the same people!
