How is the Detroit MPSCS system holding up with the 5th Alarm+ fire that's ongoing right now?

I just got a page that it is a 5th alarm with now and still Doubtful Will Hold. Meaning, it might need more trucks/manpower.....

If any of us could pick up the Detroit system we might know. I would doubt that even a 5 alarmer would put much of a strain on the system. How many times can you say 'turn on the water"?

Man, I hope you're kidding, or have never listened to a multi-alarm fire and the amount of radio traffic associated with it! Crew accountability, apparatus staging, apparatus placement, interior & exterior operations coordinating with one another all take a toll on a TRS!

I was just kidding about that part! ;) But not the other part. Detroit has a ton of comms going on all the time. With police, fire, DPW, and everyone else using the system I do not think it would put much of a strain on the system. It will be a good test though. Their big problem was finding water as the hydrants cloest to the fire were dry. The plastic pellets that were stored in the building is going to burn for a long time.

I'm picking it up...I listen for home fires for professional purposes, but I am getting all the 5-alarm traffic, albeit choppy as are all transmisssions.
