Is anyone running the Diamond SRH999 quad-band antenna on their SDS100? Any fit issues?

That was one of the worst antennas I have owned. Performance on a transceiver was terrible. A sweep of it identified that it should not be used on 6m and was generally an all around poor performer. I kept it for a while for laughs by connecting it to a Yaesu VX-3R (3") and slowly revealing the 20" antenna hidden under my arm.

I have found the Diamond RH77CA to perform well enough for my needs and better than many others I have tested for both receive and transmit. The RH77CA has the SMA connector one needs for the SDS100. Diamond makes a BNC version (RH77CA) of that antenna as well if you are using the adapter and pop the antenna on/off often.

SDS-100 has a non standard SMA connector

The design of the SDS-100 precludes the use of standard SMA antenna's. The Uniden supplied antenna has a modified SMA connecter for water proofing purposes.

Uniden recommends that you use the included SMA to BNC adapter. So you would need to purchase an antenna with a BNC connector.

Even the Remtronix SMA does not reach to contact properly. If you want to use this antenna (or the equivalent RS800) get the BNC version and use the supplied sds100 BNC adapter.

Or better yet, get the BNC version of your favorite antenna and purchase the sma/bnc adapter from jonwienke and it will fit like a glove. Lower profile, looks great. I use it with the Remtronix on my SDS.

I went with the Diamond SRH789. Interested to see if it's an improvement over the stock antenna.
I'm using the BNC version, RH789, on my SDS100, and it is an improvement over the stock antenna. Other than strictly 700 & 800MHz trunked systems, it's also better than the Remtronix 800MHz antenna as my area has a wide range of systems in use, including a number of Vhf-high & Uhf frequencies.

The SRH999 worked well on 432 and 1296. The T81A was enough of a counterpoise. I found it would work well on six and two with a small SMA magnet to clamp on a hotel air conditioner, etc. Still have mine but the T81A is long gone. It works well with a Alinco DJ-G7T.

Is there a link for the low profile sma/bnc adapter

I have the Diamond RH77CA for my SDS100. I am using the Uniden provided sma/bnc adapter, but went and ordered one of jonwienke's adapters. I just need to wait for it to show up.

I went with both the Diamond RH77CA and the stubby Comet NCG-CH32 “Miracle Baby” along with jonwienke’s SMA/BNC adapter. Very pleased with this setup!

Hi Guys,
New at this. Have an HP-1
Might I please ask the following:

a. For general, "all over the place", listening do you think the Diamond SRH789
would be meaningfully better than the Diamond RH77CA ?

b. And with a telescopic: Do you have to tune the length for the particular band, or do you find that
"all the way" out is usually just fine for most everything ?

Regards and thanks,
Bpb

I prefer the Diamond RH77CA. I gave one away to a friend and then realized I needed that extra and had another one shipped. It works well for me around 42 MHz and up. Still, if there is something around 700-800 MHz I use a different antenna. Most of the comms I listen to are below 800, so the RH77CA is the "go to" antenna for me. At times I use it for transmitting as well.

The SRH789 will work, but unless the radio was in a fixed position, I would not use a telescopic for fear of bends or breaks. I do not own that antenna, so I am unsure about adjustments for tuning, but that would seem prudent, or at least worth testing.

Remember to keep the antenna vertical or you will have attenuation of the signals.
