Tonight I have been getting a bunch of what sounds like digital transmissions on 154.2200 (OES 2) on an old analog scanner in the KCRA newsroom that is hooked up to an antenna mounted way up high on the KCRA tower. I am not able to get the transmissions on any of the digital scanners because they are not hooked up to an outside antenna. I am wondering if anyone else is getting these transmissions on a digital scanner and may be able to confirm what they are?

Could it be pager traffic or intermod from a nearby paging frequency?
I think I recall possibly hearing pager noise on OES 2 in the past.....

Put a digital scanner to the antenna you are using.

Wish I could. Due to union rules at this station I am not allowed to unhook any of the cables that run to any of the equipment at the news desk. I have made several request over the past year or so to get an engineer to do it but so far no response.

If it's a really old scanner, maybe it radiates some signal from the IF section that you could pick up with a handheld.

I think the more likely culprit is a paging signal. I have some too since I put up an outside antenna. I used CT/DC programming to eliminate the effect they had on certain frequencies. I don't have any issues with 154.220, but I am 30 miles from the downtown KCRA tower.
