I noticed a few channels in a handheld radio labeled DIRECT. Tried them out with another guy that had a radio and they were only good for about 1 mile Anybody have any Idea what frequency these are on.
"Direct" usually refers to the input frequency for a repeater system. Is used to communicate directly when in close proximity and bypass the repeater output frequency in place of a 2nd separate frequency.
In my many years in the two-way business Direct was usually the repeater output or another simplex freq. My years were spent with the analog radios. It is hard for me to understand all this trunking and digital stuff. I may be able to get my hands on that radio again in a few weeks and if I do I will try to find the freq with my spectrum analyzer/service monitor. If I get it I will post it.
its basically the same as a analog system .if you dont mind where were u at . cause to my knowledge there is no state system in use. i think there is a tower at the state eoc with a site on it .
