I've been having trouble lately when I run Discovery mode with getting any audio recorded. When I review the Run Results, it will show the TGIDs that were identified, but no audio gets recorded on any TG. It shows 0 seconds of audio for each group. These are unencrypted groups. This is true for P25, Moto Type II conventional, and a variety of DMR systems.

I've reformatted the SD card but the same behavior was observed. The batteries were in and charged. This happens both on battery power and plugged into USB. Any ideas?

Menu > Discovery > Trunking (or conventional) DIscovery > choose name of system > Set Record Duration. Make sure it's set to any duration other than "None"

I've been running a number of Discovery sessions on systems here in the DFW Metro area. We have several systems where new or additional TGIDs are popping up. I'm seeing the same thing you are, but I'm reasonably sure I know why that is happening. This is what I;m seeing on digital systems.
I believe it will log, but won't record anything if you have the 'compare to database' tick set to 'on'. I'm certainly no expert, but that's what blocked mine from recording.
Partially correct, based on my observances.

I normally set "Compare to Database" ON, and also to log everything, not just 'New' only.
I also set "Recording Duration" at the 600 second maximum, the 'Time Out Timer' as OFF, and delay as 2 seconds.

If the found item is New, it will be flagged as such, with hits and recordings.

If the item is known, and is on a Favorites list, you'll see 'Known' and the text tag in your Favorites. No recording will take place, though hit counts are noted.

If the talkgroup is 'Known', and is found in the database, but is not in one of your active Favorites lists, the TGID will be tagged as Known', but without showing the text tag in the database. It will log hit counts and audio will be recorded. The key is that it is in the database on the memory card, but not in a Favorites list.

As to recordings, if the Folder is labeled as 'Digital', and the value is greater than 0 seconds, you will have audio to review.
If the Folder is tagged as "All", even though it may show up to 600 seconds, you will not have video to review, because those were encrypted transmissions. See the screenshots below.

From the Discovery log viewer in Sentinel:

Now, looking at the same thing on the disk drive using Windows Explorer:

While you don't see it in the log viewer, on the drive the folder is tagged as E (encrypted)

I intended to clarify my reply, but I waited too long to edit it, so yes, if the TG is not in the DB, it will record as I suppose largely that is the intent of the Discovery in the first place. I was just trying to get it to work 'at all' and realized that the recognized TGs were not recording. I would assume that if nothing is being recorded that the TGs are not new, or being 'discovered'. My explanation was lacking specificity. :)

As I noted, even if the TGID is in the database, it will still record as long as it is not in a Favorites list, and will be marked as 'known'. The key is whether or not you see the text tag. If the tag is there (because it exists in a Favorites list), then the TGID will be marked known, and no recording will occur.

Gotcha, thanks. I'm still getting my feet wet and my initial response was just a 'that happened to me' reply, not studied and from a place of actual knowledge and understanding. Your explanation has been added to my knowledge base and is appreciated! I have used Trunking Discovery mode less than 5 times, total.

I've been using it quite a bit lately, on my SDS200. Several systems in my area are adding new users, and there are a couple more that have talkgroups that, so far, I have not been able to nail down.
