Morning All,
Does anyone know the place value for a "Discriminator Tap" on a Analog receiver plays?
It's my understanding that they only work on Digital signal.

It is used to take unfiltered audio and feed it into another device such as a PC or Raspberry Pi. There are several programs that can decode a digital signal fed from an analog radio, often saving the cost of upgrading the radio.

More correct to say it enables an analogue-only receiver to be used to decode digital signals when used with digital decoding software (as Citywide173 points out). DSD+ is a popular software tool for such things but there are others depending on what digital protocol you might be interested in.

I had done that years ago for a stand-alone CTCSS/DCS decoder, so it is not just for the DSD+ tap, but if the ole RS2004/2005/2006 has a tap and doesn't have CTCSS/DCS you can likely find a nice tone reader
