Hi all, I have purchased a UBC355XLT scanner and I am trying to install a discriminator tap. I have searched high and low with no luck. Although the face is similar, the board is significantly different to the COM217 - Albrecht AE66M and Uniden Bearcat BC700A. I have not yet been able to identify/locate the correct chip on the board either.

I have installed a tap into my UBC73XLT which is working well, except for when it is being charged, this causes enough interference to the tap to render it useless.

Any advice on wither issues would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Jager,

I have the same scanner and have just installed a tap into it.

I used this page for reference;

UBC360CLT

You need to find this chip referenced in this guide. Its not the same radio, but the same chip is used.

There is a hole in the circuit board adjacent to pin 11. I popped the resistor into that as it is easier than soldering onto a SMT IC.

Make sure you install the cap as well. I earthed to the trim pot nearby.
