• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I’m not sure what was settled upon. At this point, they’re sending out the preorders. There’s a thread about existing bulk order customers getting free upgrades. Have to see what results.

Yes we have Harris. As far as the PPS is concerned, Ray directed me to the Dropbox link with the 11 beta 7 PPS.

Only difference I see between the old and new G5’s is some extra plastic guarding the buttons.

If the firmware gets into the wild they could be out a bit of money.

No kidding especially given the responses on here and on Unication's Facebook page. They better have that firmware locked down real good. If someone manages to extract it from a P2 unit or break whatever activation scheme they're using, Unication might as well write off any hopes of offsetting the additional licensing costs.

Has anyone not in TX heard from their dealer about when they should expect to get their pager?

I haven't but I ordered from Ray's.

Unication probably sent Ray's inventory out via UPS Ground or USPS due to the number of pagers they had to send out. Tuesday or Wednesday would be when they would show up IF they went out on Friday and don't get delayed by weather.

Then, you have to factor in the time it takes for them to inventory them, prep them for shipping, and getting them picked up by their delivery service. Even if it's for a few hundred units, that's a lot of work. I wouldn't expect to hear anything until Friday, the 6th or Monday, the 9th of April.

I've had my pager for about two months and it has that same housing.

Nice. It would be real nice to get mine before I left town instead of having it forwarded to me.

I purchased my G5 over a year ago and paid for the Phase 2 upgrade at that time. I had to send my radio back to Unication for the upgrade. They received my radio on a Monday and I got it back that Wednesday. Very fast service. Anyway, the radio works great on P25 phase 2 systems. Firmware is V1.00-T02. The PPS is V0.3.11 Beta07. I live in Howard Co. MD and can now get the entire Prince Georges Co. P25 system. Police talkgroups are all phase 2 and come in fine. I can also get the south side (8C) zone too which is really good based on my distance from site. I can also hear Washington DC Fire/EMS without much problem.

I have my new Unication G5 in hand. Firmware shows V1.00-T02 using PPS V00-03-11 Beta 09. Performance in Frisco, about 30 miles north of Dallas is excellent, on Plano PAWM system receives great. Metrocrest system covering Carrollton, Farmers Branch and Addison is clear, encrypted channels do show a shield on the receiving channel. Audio is garbled as it should be. No hold or ability to delete encrypted channels without removing them in PPS. Because Dallas County SO is VHF reception it's spotty at best until I move south.Overall the performance of this pager is outstanding and would highly recommend it to anyone who has experienced previous P25 issues.

I have saved all previous PPS profiles in a folder in my PC and just moved my most current over to the new pager. I have 12 conventional frequencies and 170 P25 trunking items for possible use in four seperate zones.
