DIY 800 MHz Antenna

Does anyone have any good plans for a nice hi-gain 800 MHz antenna for a handheld scanner?

I have a tower I need to get put up and a discone to mount, but that will have to wait till it warms up a bit. So I'm looking for something I could whip up for now and use indoors.

I have a BC396T and the RS 800 duckie, The system I listen to has a tower about 30 miles away. I can recieve it, but I get some dropouts. I was looking for something to help pull it in a bit better till I get the tower up.
