• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

Found some DMR on 463.0125. No idea what it is. Fair amount of activity: Cap+, 6014, 3, 50, Normal, 8, 2018/12/29 16:37, "" Cap+, 6014, 11, 50, Normal, 48, 2018/12/29 17:50, "" Cap+, 6014, 21, 50, Normal, 2, 2018/12/29 17:24, "" Cap+, 6014, 31, 50, Normal, 77, 2018/12/29 16:59, "" Cap+, 6014, 41, 50, Normal, 13, 2018/12/29 17:25, "" Cap+, 6014, 51, 50, Normal, 1, 2018/12/29 16:08, "" Cap+, 6014, 71, 50, Normal, 85, 2018/12/29 18:40, "" Cap+, 6014, 231, 50, Normal, 155, 2018/12/29 18:32, ""
463.0125 is a low-power multi-user channel. I've seen at least two Cap+ systems (DCC=1 (RAS) and DCC=2); one has at least two frequencies. I also get NXDN 9.6k conventional sporadically (french), RAN=2.

DSD+ seems to have grouped these TGs as one system whereas they appear to be from multiple systems;
not sure what 6014 means, is it a "dummy" network ID (mine is 0)?

On some of these shared frequencies often either nothing is happening or too much is going on,
sometimes hard to seperate overlapping activity.

Actitvity on this frequency on Quebec side also.

Some radio shops program systems identical to each other for single site operation. They know or expect the separate users not to be able to hear each other. The idea being that the shop only needs to have one set of codeplugs for all their small time users.

The other headache is that many of these small single use users are not licensed. Around my area 469.2625 is full of analog and TRBO users .

I use different numbers such as 6012-6013-6014 just to be able to keep sites separate, so it really does not have to do with the site itself.
So when I add a new site it will be 6015. This for fastlane data files. Any number will do. Mike

EDIT: Multiple users- So, that explains why it keeps switching between CC1 and CC2
I also switches from site 1 to site 2

Yes it may be,....... signal is strong here, will record comms and see what it sounds like.
Cannot find first frequency, seems to always be on frequency 2.
463.0125 Cap+ DCC=2 has TGs 11,21,31,41,51,71 which fits a pattern. There are competing rest channel bursts
with DCC=1 which sometimes messes up the signal here...directional antenna might help.

Cap+ DCC=2 also seen on 461.4125.

So...is this Ottawa Airport a new Cap+ single site system or multi site with 2 frequencies? Or we just haven't got that far yet?

When I see this pop up in the forums I tend to start building a system in my files for future use. Being out of the area, I can't monitor to grab more info.

The comms certainly sound like airport activity.
Myself, I have not heard the first frequency in use yet, But I think Dave has.
463.0125 Is showing as frequency 2 (3+4) so there should be a frequency 1 (1+2) 461.4125.
Dave has 461.4125 as CC2 so this is probably the first frequency.
Will keep on listening.

Added: I think I can confirm this as airport activities, ramp, luggage etc.

Big flurry of NY Day activity on CTM Cap+ 454.325/461.950/452.3625 DCC=1, appears to be a bunch of people
running around Kanata/Stittsville doing driveway plowing (event for a good cause? have not quite figured it out).
Not the usual snow-clearing.

TGs 13,16,17,18,19,23,24,30,31 so far; RIDs 51xxx and 52xxx, some 53xxx.

Unrelated french activity on TGs 30,32,33 RIDs 53xxx; and 69 (RIDs 56xxx).

Very active during/after snowstorms, also includes 463.400.

452.3625 seems to be acting as a pseudo-CC broadcasting activity for other channels, but this is Cap+,
and no voice activity on that frequency.

So I was in Ottawa today and managed to get a wee bit of scanning time. Heres my findings from today. Perhaps someone can piece a few things together.

451.3875 DMR CC 9

460.6625 DMR tg 102 No Network IDid amd no site ID cc1

DaveH I think you mentioned this one earlier as well. There is both English and French comms on this one. Might be something to look at to piece together in a system. Looks to be a CTM system in Gatineau.

TAFL Search Results

463.400 Cap no Network ID no site id CC1 tg 16 tg 22 tg 30
452.3625 CAP+ CC1 no Network Id possibly a site 9
461.950 also cc1 same as above

460.6625 is St. Laurent Shopping center DMR
And I think 461.750 is the other DMR frequency that is part of the system.
