Im interested in building a DMR hotspot connected to a mobile radio. How hard is this, is anyone else built anything like this. I have a allstar node set up with a mobile radio for coverage away from the house. Like to do the same with DMR without having to put up a repeater.

anyone selling something already set up?

Pointless.

When you amplify the hotspot's transmit power, you may get better range.

BUT

The hotspot will not *hear* you at that range. Hotspot receivers are notoriously deaf. You can hear them farther than they can receive you.

A gentleman named Scott Zimmerman with Repeater Builder makes an MMDVM board that is plug and play for most radios. I am running one of his boards with a Kenwood TM 710A as a simplex hot spot with a 5 mile range around my house.
Here is a link to his web site.
This guy make a very good board I own 3 of them.
At this time im using his Blue board his stuff is built very well ........

Agreed!
We have 13 repeaters built from analog surplus Tait equipment on a linked system here in eastern N.C. on dmr using his boards. Working flawlessly.

Have you considered just having a hotspot that you take along with you in your vehicle, or even in your pocket, than to tie up a moblie radio, a hotspot, coax and antenna, just to get a few miles range out of that setup. For less than $100, you can get a MMDVM hotspot device, and use your cell phone as the bridge to the internet. People do this all the time, so your idea would actually limit your range of operations, and cost a bit more.

For years, I utilized the DVMega digital modem board and the add-on BlueStack board, which made it unbelievably simple to do, as it used bluetooth to connect the modem to your phone, with a convenient app. I never understood why people went with the more complex openSPOT or Pi-Star devices, as they had to deal with network setups and such (even using small portable routers in their cars, before the openSPOT had internal WIFI). I guess hams like to do things the complicated way.

I work (volunteer) every day at a State Park that has only SPOTTY cell coverage, but it is only 5 kM from my home, direct line-of-sight, so having a long-range high power hotspot at my home is more practical than a portable hotspot. Even the 10 MW that my hotspot puts out is usable at places in the park. 5 Watts would easily cover the park. de Jim, KØUNX, Jefferson County, Colorado.
