That system is already in the database. You can simply append it in Sentinel if you wish. If you append directly from Sentinel, you can select specific departments (and/or talkgroups), but the append, in Sentinel, will append all of the sites in the system to your Favorites list of choice.

You show to be a Premium Subscriber. If using ProScan (or ARC536), you can import only the talkgroups (and/or Departments) of your choice from the RadioReference database (RRDB)., as well as only the site you want. I use ProScan. (I don't have the ARC software, but it is also capable of importing from the RRDB.

If you have purchased the dmr upgrade for the scanner, and if your database in sentinel is up to date, you would connect the scanner to sentinel and read the scanner. Then navigate to USA-Kansas- Wyandotte and once you locate it, right click and choose append to favorites list

Welcome to the RR forums @N0HIU. Once you've confirmed you've installed the DMR upgrade you'll then need to turn on the Utilities service type so traffic from RRDB known talkgroups on the system can pass through to the scanner. "Utilities" is not enabled by default. Or otherwise turn on ID Search as was suggested to you in post #6 and see if your scanner picks up any unknowns
If all else fails then please zip up & post your Uniden Sentinel .hpe export as a reply so we can have a look at your programming

And the tell us what sites your scanning. There are only 2 tg’s listed in Kansas and about 40 sites. Pick the site closest to you and see what happens.

Took a quick look and see you have departments and sites sharing the same quick key. Saw the same in the other system also..

Its advisable to change the site quick keys to something else.

I loaded your file into my SDS100 and it appears to be scanning ALL of the sites. So while the scanner is looking at, say, the El Dorado site, it is going to miss traffic on the Kansas City, KS site. By having most of the sites quick keys "OFF", they will scan regardless of which site you have active via quick key. I recommend that you delete all but one or two local sites. I live in Johnson County and use only the Stilwell, KS site. Also, I agree with @dave3825 above about not having the same quick key for both your sites and departments since the scanner treats them as the same key.

Deleting far away sites isn't necessary, you may travel and want them back, I recommend using Avoid for the sites that are out if range, or not busy/no traffic. You only want the scanner to be busy monitoring sites that are in range.

The more sites scanned, the less chance of getting something received.

Good point about possibly traveling. I tend to stay in my local area so I just remove unneeded sites, but yes, avoiding would be better especially if you travel.

Make sure that all the service types that appear in your Favorites list are enabled (turned on). Make sure that your Favorites list(s) are set both to be downloaded as well as monitored. (Those settings are in your profile.)

If using location control, make sure that your correct, current, location is shown in your profile, as well as a range that will "reach" the sites and departments that you have entered. Also ensure that you have the correct sites programmed and that they are not set as "avoid". (If you created your list either by appending from within Sentinel, or by importing, via ProScan, from the RRDB. location data should already be present for the sites and departments in your list.

You might also post your revised list, to see if something was accidentally overlooked. (I presume that your current list is not the same as what you posted before.)

While this would not result in a "nothing to scan" error message, I would suggest that you have the system set to have ID Search, not ID Scan (search off).

It sounds like the programing for the Favorites Lists is not being written to the scanner. Make sure both Monitor and Download are enabled in Sentinel.
  • Edit Profile>Scan Selection tab: Make sure 'Monitor' and 'Download' are On for FL's you want to scan.
For other tips regarding Nothing to Scan, see this wiki article: (see section titled "For the HPx, x36HP and SDS Series")
