So I have the DMR update installed on my Uniden scanners, however there is really only a couple colleges, schools and Amazon that uses DMR in my area, so my question is, can I program them into one of those cheaper DMR Radios like Retevis, and etc?? Or will that not work? I really do not want to tie up my scanners with the radio traffic from them since I usually monitor LE, FD and EMS .

You should be able to... if your cheaper DMR radio has a monitor mode it would decode anything regardless of slot or color code. I have a Btech DMR6x2 and in monitor mode I can listen to American Airlines, another small airline, and a local airport parking company just by inputting their frequencies. (I work near the airport)

Those radios do not scan as well as a true scanner, but they do work. I have several DMR HTs, and the CS 580 has the easiest setup of those I use.

Just beware, it'll be harder to monitor if they're using trunking systems.
