It means that it is a Wildcard. In most cases, that is because it was unknown by the submitter to the database. Colour Codes must be populated in the database, talkgroups and slots can remain as wildcards until known.

I am looking at the University of Waterloo DMR frequencies. I have them programmed into my SDS200. They are being
scanned and I can see that it is receiving a signal but I only heard audio once. Uniden support cannot figure it out.

I am interested in monitoring the 4 DMR talkgroups. I did try the trunked DMR system and it doesn't seem to be active.

They may not have omitted them. The system could be using pseudo-trunking in which case the time slot isn't fixed. Likewise if the system is Capacity Plus - the time slot is dynamic.

monitor_man: Looking at previous submissions, when U of W Security was discovered in 2015, the submitter had Slot 1 listed. The next update was in 2017 where the talkgroups that are listed in the database were submitted as they appear in the listings. Perhaps you and those submitters could monitor these again and let us know of any changes that should be made to the database.

If no changes noted, then what excalibur said in post #6 is true.

I have been monitoring and receiving some audio. The various channels show 5 bars at times but there isn't always audio.
I am wondering if there are data bursts that show 5 bars. So far Wloo Campus security shows as slot 1 and Wloo parking
shows as slot 2. Kitchener campus security shows as slot 1. So far no action on Kitchener campus parking. I will keep monitoring.

If it's anything like Western in London, there is very very little radio traffic right now as the campus is pretty much empty....

I hope it is OK to jump in here.
I use the BCD436HP and was also wondering about the asterisk... where would that go in the programming?
I thought it was only Search On or Search Off.
Thanks
