Hello!

I have a ws1098, firmware v.3.9 (but same problem applies to v.3.8). I cannot seem to program DMR Tier 2 (no trunking or repeater, juts walkie talkie). I have two DMR push to talk (PTT) radios, a TYT MD-380 and Baofeng GT-3. The TYT is operating using slot one only, the Baofeng uses both slots (like emergency mode), it repeats the voice message on both slots. I cannot seem to program either radio into the ws1098.

Using EZ-scan software:
I tried to program each radio as a conventional frequency
selecting mode=DMR, and DMode=Digital, no joy.
selecting mode=DMR, and DMode=Auto, no joy.
selecting mode=Auto, and DMode=Auto, Thinks is NFM, so no joy

I tried to set-up as a trunking system with one site and *wildcard talk group, as suggested on other posts. No joy.

The craziest thing is I can pickup both radios using Spectrum sweep. But if I save the Spectrum sweep object to a scanlist, then scan the scanlist, it does not pickup either radio. I contacted customer service and got "that's weird" as a reply.

Has anybody successfully programmes\d the scanner for these radios of for any Tier 1,2 DMR?

any help is appreciated.

I was able to get the Baofeng radio programmed as a conventional freq. as follows:
Mode=DMR
Squelch=Any
DMode=Digital

This started working after pulling the 2/8/2018 update PC App v.2.31.

However, the TYT MD-380 radio still won't program. I am stumped on this. The fact the Spectrum sweep picks it up indicates that the scanner should support the radio. I suspect that it's a timeslot issue. Can this scanner be programmed for a DMR Tier 1,2 using only one of two time slots (slot1)?

Thanks

SOLVED

Finally, got the single-slot TYT programmed. Not at all straight forward (to me). Here's the magic formula:

1) Create new Trunked Radio System Type=DMR
2) Add a site with the desired frequency (e.g. 4460.000 MHz)
3) DO NOT add a talk group, instead add a Radio ID detail.
3 a) for the TYT radio, each slot has a separate RadioID (slot1=Radio1, slot2=Radio2)
3 b) chose the scanlist that you want the radio added to
4) Joy.

Hopefully this helps somebody else as Spectrum scan doesn't set Tier 1,2 single slot correctly.

When you transmit with a DMR radio setup for simplex, it uses another protocol compared to when you access a basestation with different tx/rx frequencies.

Seems to me that Whistler only included that simplex protocol in the sweeper and not in other scanner modes in the 1098.
