If the radio has a removable head, then there should be a short cable between the head and the radio body when it's attached to the radio body. What you need is a longer version of that cable.

Understood, I'm trying to find the cable, or at least where to find the pieces - parts to make a cable. Thanks for the reply though, at least I now know someone looked at the question. :^)

I found a copy of the manual and I'm not sure that radio is designed to have the head separated from the rest of the radio, especially as some of the controls are on the microphone. From what i can see in the manual, there is no cable separating the two pieces. It looks as though the connection between the two is built-in and is made when the head is attached. If this is the case and there is a cable, then it's likely proprietary and no longer available.

found a picture of the CAW591 cable....it looks to be one end is a proprietary push on plug with a screw down fastener. Not gonna give you much hope in findiing one. I had a 5900 years ago and loved the radio...as well as my other STANDARD radios, the C508 and the C510 that I still use today! Good luck...
