Looking for a p25 scanner to buy for cheap (under $90) that isn't a scam. I can only afford up to 90 by Visa. Really don't want to loose the ability to listen to the public safety in my area. Anyone that can help me out with my interest in purchase is appreciated.

Feeling a little depressed because the fact that I'm losing ability to listen plus can't afford it and having to ask for help like this online.

Depends on the P25 systems the OP is trying to track, I'd need more info about that to make a definite recommendation. With that said I HAVE seen older model RadioShack units (Pro 96, 2096, etc: the first ever units to track P25 without an add-on card) go up on ebay for as low as $50-75 in the past. Albeit they'll only decode Types I & II, no TDMA, no simulcast, etc. They are out there, but others have mentioned they can be really hard to find at your price point. I still have a RS Pro-2096 which can still trunk track my county's P25 Phase II system quite well (that is until they migrate to a new TDMA-based system in the near future)

I can tell you the counties, I don't know the OP of the p25 system they're using. Any recommendations, im not looking for any specific brands, just something that I can listen to listen to police, fire on p25 phase 1 and 2. I found a Radio Shack pro-91 channel trunking scanner.

Any chance of using a computer and SDR dongle(s)?

I guess it would work, but I prefer a handheld scanner if possible.

Best you can do is look for something for sale used. Used equipment can be suspect, and even used your budget is probably short.

You never know why people are selling a scanner used.

Zac you are going to have a hard time even if you double your budget

I can't text, we will have to talk by email or other platform. I can't afford $250 plus it would have to be shipped to me by mail, etc. As I said I can only afford $90. Yes, I understand I will struggle to get my hands on one as well, even dubbling my money.

You might find a used one for under that price, but buyer beware. If you can go up a little I'd recommend the Whistler 1040 which people in my area have had good luck with. You can pickup a scratch and dent from Whistler for $130.

Yeah, that's what my initial question was to begin with, buying a used one, but again the highest i can go is $89.96. Would they lower the price just a little to make it affordable for me? :)
