Downloading PL2303 driver

Hello,
I had bought a Uniden BVD996P2 digital scanner. Iam having trouble communicating with my laptop. I call Uniden and they told me to download the PL2303 driver. I had done this and it says I need a downloadable disk. I just subscribed to Radio reference and thought I could get this going. I looked in the device manager on my laptop and the driver was not there. Any help would be appreciated. My e-mail address is topgun4821@sbcglobal.net.

It got my 996 going. The driver is:

Has to be extracted and when I installed it, there was no disk message, although I have Win 7 and don't know what Vista's situation would be.

edit: I also updated the firmware, which is on the same page, but that was after the installation of the driver.

You need that driver for the 996xt, 996t, 15x, 396xt, or others using the serial to USB cable. You DON'T need it for the 996P2 or the 325P2 radios that have native USB instead of native serial ports.

Just use the drivers indicated in the wiki above.
