Is anybody else who is searching the DPS OKC Site experiencing this?

Periodically, on 54800 my scanner detects an emergency button activation and then an open carrier for a period of time. I have yet to hear a voice transmission on this talkgroup.
This has been going on for weeks and twice in the last five minutes.

Your Scanner can pick up an emergency button activation?? Really?? I thought only the dispatcher could see that??

Then an open carrier for a period of time

Thats what happens when you have an emergency button activation on this system..

Testing I am sure..

I'm listening to both OKC and Norman (on two separate radios). the 54800 business is only on OKC. Since nobody else has mentioned it to date I was thinking that it is something here that is causing it. There is also occasionally an open carrier (without emergency alert) around 68000, but I have't ever written that one down so I can't remember what the talkgroup number is exactly. The same thing sometimes happens with a 7XXXXXX talkgroup like an icall. If you aren't seeing it there, I'm thinking that the source is local. One thing I do know for sure is that it is annoying.

I am not seeing the emergency activations at all in north OKC.

Mediflight is the only group I know that uses I-Call in this area.

You mgiht see if you can tell if the emerency activations are always on the same voice channel.

That guy testing the radio on TG 42064 is annoying to me.

If it happens again, I’ll make a note of the voice frequency. I think that by posting, I have achieved my objective, as having publicly humiliated myself, it has not happened since.

I guess something around here is getting into my radio. Unlike KK5FM, I haven't graduated to a "radio command easy chair" so everytime it happened, I had to get up and wander across the room and hit "scan".
