I have, and that adds to the confusion, I live further up north of that area. I live in the NTIRN area. I didn't see similar talk groups in that system. Did I miss something?
In addition to the Southeast Texas thread that
Raleigh mentioned, also look at
this thread, which is more specific to the North Texas/DFW area. DPS does not actively patrol the mostly urban counties, such as Dallas, since all of the highways are within the city limits of one or more of the various cities & towns in the county. The exception to that are the various toll roads here in North Texas, such as the Dallas North Tollway (DNT), the George Bush Turnpike (GBT), Sam Rayburn Tollway (SRT), & the Chisholm Trail Parkway (CTP). Units patrolling those roads are on the
Dallas P25?NCTCOG system. The units on the DNT & Bush Turnpike are very active on the Dallas NCTCOG site of that system. The Collin County, & Denton sites, where you'd expect the SRT units to utilize, is out of range for me. Occasionally, I do hear units on the Dallas site, but I would expect them to use the Fort Worth site most of the time, which is not in range for me.
As noted in the thread I linked above, Denton County units apparently are often heard on the Denton S.O. Patrol 1 TGID on the
Denton TRS. There is a specific TGID for Tx DPS on that system, but in most counties, DPS uses the Sheriff's Office channels of the counties where units are assigned. DPS Mineral Wells has a TGID on NTIRN, but that is used to communicate with units assigned to Johnson County, and probably only carried on that site. That would almost certainly be out of range for you in the northern part of the area. DPS Mineral Wells dispatching units in Parker County area is on Parker County's system (as
Harold has noted).
