I am trying to get DSD+ working for me, and so far I can get the screens to scroll with info, but no voice..just the data noise. Is there someplace I can get info on properly installing this? I did read the Noobs article,
but I still am confused. Do you have to start the program in DOS to get it to work properly? I have been clicking
on the Icon...maybe that is wrong???

I think I need a step-by-step tutorial....

Thanks,

do you know what type of system your listening to ?
are you just opening the DSDPlus.exe file or running from a .bat file ?

If you hold the shift key and right click on the folder that DSD is in, then click on the context menu "open command window here" . Then type dsdplus in the window or the .bat file of your choice. That will get it going for whatever you need it for. I just did my own crash course on setting up unitrunker, dsd+, vb cable. I got it to work on a P25 system with one dongle and it works really good.

if you have a dsdplus.txt file in the folder , it will show you all the command line options that you can use to create a .bat batch file to get dsdplus to run as you may need .

I would start by not monitoring anything , and just open dsd plus and take note of the numbers shown next to the sound devices you need set up your audio pipeline ( inputs and outputs ) .

create file called something like - start.bat in the dsdplus folder
edit it with wordpad and enter :
DSDPlus -i ( your input # ) -o ( your output# )
the input output number will vary per user system / setup
save the .bat file

my .bat file looks like :
DSDPlus -i4 -o1

launch dsd using the bat file created and tune to the voice channel you want to listen to and let us know how or if it works .

It sounds like your audio output options are not set properly, and you are listening to the raw audio from your receiver program.

What software you using to tune into the system?

Do you have a virtual audio cable setup? From what you describe, your tuning program is outputting the the speakers, and DSD+ is using the speaker feed for input. I'm not sure what is happening to the output (it might not be decoding properly, so there may be no output). You'll likely need a virtual audio cable to make this work.

Screenshots would help.

Read the "DSDPlus.txt" file in the root directory to learn more about the configuration.

Start by launching the "VC.bat" file. Take note of the audio inputs and outputs. Close DSD+. Then edit the VC.bat file in Notepad. It'll go something like this for you: dsdplus.exe -v4 -fr -i1 -o1 Save it, and the launch the bat file to see if DSD+ is running with your settings correct.

What operating system do you use?

Thanks for the replies.....I am using Virtual Audio Cable as both input and output...I am using a SDR dongle..Nooelec brand to monitor. Do I need to download VB cable also? I am running Windows 10.

Now, I can get DSD going by typing FMP-CC and hit enter...problem is, the SDR Dongle then says I need to choose the radio, but my dongle is not listed in the config menu for the SDR. It is greyed out. Now when I close the DSD, I can get control back on my Dongle....so, still trying!

i have a similar set up , a single nooelec rtl sdr dongle ,
for software i use sdrsharp with the dsd+ plugin

sdrsharp is set to output to my default sound card for analog audio
the dsd+ plugin is set for virtual audio input
dsd+ is set to listen to virtual audio output
and to output to my default sound card to listen to the decoded digital audio.

i do not use fmp cc at all for general decoding.

Without any audio being fed into dsd+
can you open it up and copy paste what the window has for your sound input output options
so i can assist you in making a .bat file to use ?

here is a example of mine:

FMP is a tuner program for dsd+ the CC Part means control channel
you probably wont use that unless you have multiple RTL-SDR dongles

FMPCC ( control channel ) will control what FMPVC listens to ( VC = voice channel )
it takes 2 dongles

I tried to copy it, but it did not work...so I wrote it down..

Audio Input Device 1 - Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)
Audio Input Device 2 - Microphone (Realtek)
Audio Input Device 3 - Microphone (USB Audio Codec)

Audio Output Device 1 - Speakers/Headphones
Audio Output Device 2 - Speakers USB Audio Codec
Audio Output Device 3 - Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)
Audio Output Device 4 - Syncmaster (Intel (R)

Audio Input Device 1 - Line 1 Virtual Audio Cable Initialized
Audio Output Device 1 - Speakers/Headphones

Ok , that looks correct but,,, ( bare with me )

1 is the default that it will use - so by default in your case it is set properly
however it would be advisable to create what they call a batch .bat file ,
so that you possibly add more options, or change the settings of how dsd functions.

since i know you have a FMP-CC.bat file lets make a copy of that file , rename and edit it:

right click the fmp-cc file and select copy , and then right click in the folder and paste,
you will now have a FMPA-CC - Copy file ,
select that file and right click and select rename,
choose a name like start , or dsd-run or somthing basic
now select file again and right click edit
delete everything in it and enter --

DSDPlus -i1 -o1

save the file and close it
you now have a batch file that will always open dsd+ with those options
( the rest of the available options are listed in dsdplus.txt file )

Now we need to figure out your tuner software
You need to have a program to tune the usb dongle and to output the audio into :
Audio Input Device 1 - Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)

Using FMP to do this will be more of a pain in the arse todo ,
I recommend you use sdr# ( sdrsharp)
Download | airspy.com

let me know if your following along so far and if you installed sdrsharp ( or another program for tuning ) ,
then we can go on from there.

i should clarify that, i assume that the device your listening with is :
Audio Output Device 1 - Speakers/Headphones

and not one of these :

Audio Output Device 2 - Speakers USB Audio Codec
Audio Output Device 3 - Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)
Audio Output Device 4 - Syncmaster (Intel (R)

otherwise you would need to change the -o
to correspond with the # device you want the output to goto .

ok since your running sdrsharp you will need to set the audio out from sdrsharp to
Line 1 (Virtual Audio Cable)
unless your using a plugin ( like the dsdplus plugin - recommended ) to port the audio into dsdplus

ok then you need to click on " configure "
and up top where it says DSD path ( click to edit )
guess what : click it !
browse to the place where you have your dsdplus program located
and make sure the input / output audio is set correctly
