I wonder what is the lowest system requirements to run DSDPlus. I remembered that back in the days I was reading some statement that Intel Atom is able to run 4 insances of DSDPlus without any problem.
If you build DSDPlus dedicated machine, what hardware will you choose? Will you choose more powerful CPU, or maybe more RAM, or both... Please post your experience and include your hardware specs, type of system that you are listening and system load levels.
The lowest spec I've tried is an old Dell Vostro laptop, don't remember the exact model but it was with 4 gigs of RAM and Core 2 Duo T5300, running Windows 7 - no issues at all, decoding was fine, was monitoring NXDN48 trunked system. Don't remebmer what system load levels were. Currently I'm listening the same system on Lenovo Flex14, with 4 gigs of RAM, I3-4030U, Windows 8.1. During decoding CPU rarely goes to 20%, typically is around 15% and lower. First screenshot is when there is no activity on the system, and second one is when there is some active calls.

My Atom N450-based Win-XP netbook runs a dual-dongle DSD+ FL trunking setup without issues, but I don't think it'll properly run more than that, nor would I want to try a lighter processor.

Lightweight Win 7+ machines work better if the desktop eye candy is turned off.

Minimum specs should specify a non-borked USB subsystem - some systems out there can't handle a couple of dongles running at 2.4 Msps. No way of knowing if a USB subsystem will work without trying it.

Here's a couple of old laptops I've setup to monitor DMR TIII with DSDPlus/FMP24 FL CC VC:

Toshiba Tecra A3X - Intel Pentium M 1.86GHz 800FSB 1.5GB RAM - Windows XP SP3 32 bit
Acer Extensa 4214WXMi - Intel Celeron M 440 1.86GHz 533 FSB 2GB RAM - Windows 7 SP1 32 bit
MacBook Air 2008 (1,1 A1237) 1.6 GHz Intel "Core 2 Duo" 800MHz FSB 2GB RAM - Windows 7 SP1 64 bit

The MacBook Air is more powerful than the first two and can run SDRSharp (with TETRA plug-in) and GNURadio as well. Main issue with it is it gets very hot and requires a fan on bottom to assist cooling.

The first 2 laptops require a bit of tweaking to DSDPlus and FMP24 to function OK. Even then, DSDPlus can do some funny (not good) things on lower end CPU.
