Hello, attempting to update the DSP firmware, but it has stalled. Firmware Download Progress 100%, Scanner Upload Progress 0%, and scanner screen states "Waiting for Main unit." What do I need to do get through this?

Courtesy of TAbirdman:

Try a few things:
1) with no cables attached to the unit press and hold the power button for 30 seconds ( use the timer on your PC, has to be at least 30 seconds)
2) plug in power cable and press and hold power button until unit tells you to let go.

No luck?
remove head and use the LAN cable. if it now works, turn the scanner to noaa so you have constant talking. unplug the LAN cable and reconnect the head. Does it work? No? then take a small screwdriver and "clean" the gold contacts on the main unit and try it again.

Personally, I would use an eraser. Scraping the contacts with a screwdriver will damage the coating.

Probably a SD card issue, as DSP firmware get written to the SD card. Use a card reader, In ezscan select prepare card and check all the boxes. if the card will not format replace it with only a SANDISK class 4 card 4, 8 or 16gb ...what ever is least expensive.

I don't think it uses the SD card during upgrades, the data goes directly to flash programming? It's this unreliable USB communication that TRX-2 has. I use the standalone upgrade program and not EZ-Scan and that seems to work much better.

Yes it could be a bad usb cable or connection. My understanding is the config.bin file on the sd card contains the DSP firmware and you can roll it back by changing that file. It loads when the scanner boots up.

No, that is the config, what settings you are using for scanlist selections and so on, the same type of config file that Uniden also use on their SD card. It's only a 86kb file size so only contains a small amount of data. A DSP file are many Mb in size.
