I am wanting to build a somewhat stealth dual band (2M-70cm) antenna to put in behind the curtains in my window. My idea was to build one dual band if possible or two 300ohm twin lead J poles one for each band, my questions are 1) The best way to connect a single coax to both antennas. 2) How to best orientate the antennas together as in side by side, one up one down center fed, or layered on top of each other. I will not be transmitting a lot of power, and I will more than likely never transmit on both at the same time. I would basically be using them as monitoring the local repeaters while I am at my desk working.

A 2 meter 'J'-pole will work on 70 cm with no problem. So one antenna should do what you are wanting. If you start trying to connect two of those antennas (or any two antennas) you'll start getting into phasing problems that can get 'hairy'. An antenna switch works fine too, and eliminates that 'hairiness'.
