I'm hearing UNC Aircare & Duke lifeFlight refer to going to "the new 800 frequency" and am just assuming all their communications like eveyone else are migrating over to VIPER? Anyone have the talkgroups for these agencies?

VIPER ROCKS!

All "first responder" and NIMS agencies will be able to access the VIPER talkgroups set aside for each service. They'll have their own 800 or whatever dispatch systems that won't be part of VIPER, but just as our USAR group will have use of the SAR talkgroups, designated EMS talkgroups, fire talkgroups, law enforcement talkgroups, yadda yadda yadda, the air ambulance services will have much of the same access. The "new" radios will be newer 800 mhz radios that are digital capable that replace the analog MCS2000 and Spectra 800s they have now.

I think they're full digital now...someone in the area will have to chime in.

Try checking the database for the information you're looking for, most agencies can be found in their home county listing, if not there will be a note pointing you in the right direction

As far as I know they are talking about Viper when they say "new 800 freq". All I have heard them on is digital with exception of the LZ talkgroups. UNC is in the database under Orange Co & Duke is under Durham Co.

This is correct. They operate on the VIPER TGs in
digital voice format listed in the database.

Marshall can you elaborate the usage rates between the 3600 & the 9600 systems? I imagine 9600 is nice for local calls and dispatch, but I'm sure they switch over when going out of range of the P25 system yes?

I've noticed Duke Lifeflight on the Air OPS Tg in the 3600 baud VIPER, but I've also been wondering about this too. What do they dispatch on when they're out of range on the P25 VIPER?

How did I miss this? Sorry about that.
From what I understand the new P25 9600 talkgroups are for testing
while the regular day to day radio traffic takes place on the legacy
3600 VIPER system.

I spoke to a Duke Lifeflight Airmedic and he told me that Duke LF 1 (Based at duke) dispatches on Viper P25, but Duke LF 3 dispatches on regular VIPER. However I have never heard a Duke LF Air dispatch on Regular VIPER. Anyone know what TG they use for that?
