I've been reading for weeks about digital scanners. Really wanting to buy one but want to be sure of what I'm doing. Only experience is with a BC-350A.
Can a digital scanner such as an SDS200 scan trunked systems and conventional simultaneously? Tried searching but haven't found anything concrete.
Thanks!

Traditional stand-alone scanners, like you are asking about, can only tune and play audio from one channel at a time. They are "scanners", because they can quickly scan those channels listening for activity and stopping to play them when there is audio. Technically, I would not call that simultaneously.

There are Software Defined Radios (SDR) that can listen to more than one thing at a time. That's what I would consider truly simultaneously.

Anytime a scanner is playing audio from an active channel, you'll be missing other active channels. That's why once you get into scanning, you'll likely want more scanners or possibly SDR setups to hear more at once and to make sure you are not missing other stuff, assuming you're in a busy area.

Happy Scanning!

I was going to say this too, but thought I might confuse the issue of the OP's question. (y)

Thanks for the replies. I thought "simultaneously" wasn't exactly the correct word, but figured you'd know what i meant. 🙂

Sure, it can but don't expect any degree of consistency if you're trying to follow a conversation on one or the other
