• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Why is the East Brunswick trunked system listed as an astro system ?
Also talkgroups are incorrectly labeled with A analog or D for digital and I have not heard any digital at all on this system.

I monitor East Brunswick as my own local . It is my understanding that they are developing a capability for selected digital capabilitiies within the police. I have not heard any digital as yet on any of the TG's - including the radio techs. The displays here of A or D, I believe, are projected for the future. How far in the future, who knows. Hope this helps.

EB TRS may be listed as an Astro system because the FCC license was modified to allow digital transmissions (voice and data). I have tried to submit corrections to the actual talkgroup usage (analog versus digital) a couple times with no success or response.

I think digital encryption has been used part-time on the EB Detective talkgroup. I have been told it has also been used on the SRPD 3 TG, but I'm not aware of digital (enc or clear) anywhere else and I can't even confirm those two.
