I occasionally will hear the standard Emergency Alert System being tested with message that "If this were an actual emergency or Amber alert......" and so on. This is coming through on their standard 40's MHZ system. Today's test was around 1 pm.

Anybody know if they have separate receivers or just through their normal daily ops radios?
Or have any details about the system.

They are part of the EAS system and installed ENDECs at their control points. EAS points of entry have 42 MHz receivers installed to receive the messages and forward them into the larger system, if necessary.

Here's a snippit of an actual emergency broadcast during this past winter's blizzard by Troop H/St. Joseph.

I think it's the only non-test EAS broadcast I've heard on a highway patrol channel.
