Is that possible to be booted??
Apparently you can by owners of the repeaters. My friend has been by talking and suddenly said goodbye. It's incredibly frustrating! So we can't talk on local repeaters talking about ham radio? I'm new I was getting some input

Did what you do violate a term of service?
Never did. Apparently you can be kicked out by owners which shouldnt be allowed. It had a funny tone and said goodbye I was like what is going on. Mind you I'm a licensed ham in Canada. So I am completely confused as to what happened. So now I'm confused what really happened. And no violations to terms of service that I can think of. I was talking to my friend in Illinois. And talking about hams and getting involved with local group. So I am completely confused as what happened

I disagree.

A amateur radio repeater operating in the U.S.A. is subject to the rules established by the Federal Communications System. As such, the owner/operator of a repeater is subject to the same standards of conduct on the repeater as apply to the owner/operator of any other amateur radio station. This is true whether the repeater is connected to Echolink or operates stand-alone. Repeaters are allowed to be operated automatically subject to some additional provisions in the rules. In the end, the owner/operator has complete control over how the repeater is used as codified in §97.205(e) which states "Limiting the use of a repeater to only certain user stations is permissible." I assume that Canada has similar rules.

You seem to be taking the position that you or the person you were talking to were "booted" from the repeater. It's possible that the owner of the repeater needed to do maintenance on the repeater. It's possible that the Echolink connection was somehow lost. It's possible that the person you were talking to had to leave the conversation for some reason. No matter the reason, the repeater owner/operator has control and is merely allowing you to virtually sit in his house and use his/her station.

Remember this fact: when using a repeater or Echolink node, you are using someone else' private property. They owe you NOTHING. The fact that one allows another the use of his/her property is something revocable at any time, for any reason, and that is just life, not just in amateur radio either.

One should always remember they are guests. Guest, like fish out of water, start to stink after a while. The great thing about amateur radio, is one is always free to invest their own money, time and resources, and construct whatever infrastructure they wish and run it how they see fit.
