I have found that using the AFS format helps me visualize the structure of the radio system. For instance, if you have a TG of 04-123 (decimal 611), you could guess that it is possibly the third TG in a set, 04-121 being the first TG. Using strictly decimal does not give you this insight. You can often fill in holes or greatly expand your data by doing this, at least in planning, if not for programming. And, as mentioned, you can program all the TG's in this series with just 04-12- rather than 04-121, 04-122, etc. Oh, yes, and if your Uniden is set for the opposite mode, when you enter it, the radio will convert it to the proper mode.
