You do hear them on Edmonton Fire groups W1 to W13 in the clear on AFRRCS. In the surrounding area you can hear them in the clear on AHS MA 11 to14.

How does that work (with Edmonton) - does the ambulance switch over/join the EFRS channels when they know they're working with Fire on a job, or do they always have a radio on there and another on CCC, or what?

To the OP: Any of the channels marked as MA11-14 (in the RRDB; there are several sets) are in the clear, the rest is encrypted - for all EMS all over the province.

I believe the AHS mobile stays on CCC Dispatch or Deployment. A portable is usually used to switch zones and communicate with Edmonton Fire Rescue who go to quite a few Medical First Response (MFR) calls

I should add Strathcona EMS can also be heard on the Sherwood Park Fire groups. They have both AHS and Strathcona radios.
