I'm trying to understand the concept of the "local oscillator" in FDM-SW2 for the FDM-S2...
First, isn't the concept of a local oscillator meaningless in the context of a direct sampling receiver? Perhaps something was lost in translation and local oscillator means something completely different than it does for a superhet receiver.
Unfortunately, the FDM-SW2 user's manual never defines exactly what the local oscillator is or how it's to be used. There are buttons to change the relationship of the local oscillator frequency and the demodulator frequency, but the function of these buttons isn't clear.
Can anyone offer any insight?
