Hi. I am in Elkins and hearing traffic mostly on low band VHF. EMS on 46.04 and the sheriff on 39.96. Elkins PD was on 155.13 when I was here 2 years ago but I have not heard anything on that frequency. I am not hearing anything on the SIRN system using my Pro2096. Anyone have any suggestions for the SIRN programming. Does it need anything special done besides using pro 96 to upload the sites and Talkgroups? Any frequency recommendations for the surrounding area? Thank you very much

It's been a while, but I believe on the 2096 you have to use the following:

This is a 9600 CC Baud Digital Trunking System.

Custom GRE/Radio Shack Frequency Table

Table 1:

With WIN96 software for the PRO 96/2096 scanner:

1. Prompt "MULTI TABLES"
2. Prompt "EXTENDED TRUNKING TABLES"
3. Do not prompt any "STANDARD PLANS"
4. "CH LOW" 8192 "CH HI" 12287 "BASE FREQ" 453.0250 "OFFSET" 8192 "STEP" 12.5
5. "CH LOW 12288 "CH HI" 16383 "BASE FREQ" 450.0000 "OFFSET" 12288 "STEP" 6.25
6. clear all other trunking tables, and prompt "OK"
7. Don't forget to save your file!

Actually, there are now three entries in the bandplan (ever since they started using 400 mhz federal freqs. Now, I don't know how you convert this into something a Pro96 / Pro2096 can use, but here are the bandplans.

Base=453.025 Offset=+5 Spacing=12.5 BW=12.5
Base=450 Offset=+5 Spacing=6.25 BW=12.5
Base=400 Offset=+9 Spacing=6.25 BW=12.5

Of course, if you don't have the 400 mhz entry, the only sites you wouldn't trunktrack are the handful with 400 mhz federal freqs.

Elkins was on the above awhile back still maintaining a city dispatcher VHF high above during 8-4 working hours. The WVSP uses the SIRN. The sheriff used UHF conventional. Next time I am in Randolph county I will stop in their 911 center and find out for sure.
