I just bought a SDS200 and live in Henderson, NV. Are a majority of the EMS talkgroups now encrypted? I ask because the only thing I’m hearing is Community Ambulance Primary.

The place I bought it from created the favorites list, however, I have since downloaded Sentinel and have somewhat learned how to use it. At this time, I’m only scanning stuff within SNACC. All the EMS channels that I want to scan are in my Clark County favorites, while that particular EMS zone is open to scan, with no avoids on any of the EMS/Hospital talkgroups! Like I said earlier, the only thing I’m receiving is Community Ambulance primary within that zone. Maybe I’ll double check all the talkgroup numbers, although I’m sure that’s not the issue.

Scanner Master is who I paid to help give me a start with the scanner and I had them put in Clark County. I’m sure they got it from RadioReference using Sentinel.

Also, thank you for the reply! Any and all input is highly appreciate it.

If you want to hear EMS you will need to add the conventional channels from my previous post to your favorites list. Not all EMS comms are on the SNACC system. They still use their conventional channels. Mercy Air for example 453.875.

Ahh! I have the conventional channels for EMS in my favorites, but I’ve only scanned SNACC. I’ll open up my scan to see what else I can hear. My interest though is in Sienna, St Rose, and Henderson Hospital which I haven’t heard on SNACC, although scanning those TG’s.

Thanks again!!

I fully suggest get the DMR upgrade. Many casino and business radios are Mototrbo (DMR) in clark county now. Worth every penny.

Thank you for the suggestion. More than likely I will do the DMR upgrade because I didn’t realize how many businesses and casinos used Mototrbo.

UMC uses a DMR trunked system.

Spring Valley Hospital uses a conventional DMR system.

Mountain View is licensed for DMR but Im not close enough to log it.

Sunrise Hospital is still analog conventional.

The VA Hospital is P25 trunked on 400 MHz but is rarely active.

Another thing you should know: most EMS calls are silent dispatched. AMR, Community, and MedicWest usually dispatch priority calls by pager or MDC. What goes out over the radio are non-priority calls, inter-facility transports (IFTs), unit status reports, and informal chat.

Does HFD’s rescue units also use DMR trunking and analog to speak to both corresponding trauma units?
They use the SNACC system for that under these talkgroups Clark County / Las Vegas EMS Talkgroups just make sure you have service type "hospitals" active.

I thank you @737mech for verifying that information, although I also appreciate the other gentleman’s input. Just an update, as of yesterday, I found out that hospitals were not active. It was also suggested that I change my range, and also manually entered my coordinates for Downtown Vegas. To make a long story short, I am now receiving Hospital‘s.

If you are not using a gps device I can't see why range settings matter? Just set the range to max, enter 200 miles and it should prompt you to set max. Enter Y/N enter Y.

Thank you for your explanation. The important thing is in all of this, I am now receiving what I wanted to hear. I really appreciate all your input, as well as the other gentleman that later joined in. If I have any other questions in the future, I’ll make you one of my go to guys. Take care and 73!

They're very active on "P25 trunked on 400 MHz" -- their primary security, ops, & maintenance comms are on what's commonly known as the Nellis base LMR trunked system & have a site there at the VAMC. The site also is the source of the 167.8625 mess (listen for at-least 15 minutes before asking "What mess?").
