first of all newbie to forum. I have an analog scanner and loved it but as i watch the digital world unfold i am concerned that i will spend a lot of money on a scanner only to have all the PD's encrypt their data and i won't be able to hear any of them. Is this a possibility? Are the days of scanning dwindling?

Thanks

Welcome,

Yes, but not likely and no, not really.

curious

You say not likely, is there a technical reason or legal reason or just public outcry that would cause this not likely to happen. Again i don't want to spend the money if scanning as we know it is going away.

Thanks for the response

Encryption has been an option for police agencies for over 20 years... It costs money. If they haven't done it yet, odds are not good they'll do it when you buy your scanner.
