• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Why cant some one discuss encryption? If they violate the law then they will be prosecuted! This is a forum that discusses all forms of radio transmissions?

I've wondered that myself. Perhaps it's either do to beating a dead horse, or some invested interest in Broadcastify or some other stupid crap.

I've been a member of many forums on the Internet and each has their own house rules no matter how stupid one may think it is. What one forum allows the other forum may not. On my forum I could care less.

There is an ulterior motive for this site not to want talk about the big "E". This is a private web site. You may submit info for others to use - just don't have an opinion about certain things. Just like in politics -- "Follow the money". Don't want to kill the goo$e that laid the Golden Egg.

There's nothing wrong with discussing encryption. However, threads about encryption often turn into arguments about the reasons for encryption and that usually turns into an argument about the relationship between encryption and live feeds. These arguments often detract from the thread's original question and/or the usefulness of the forums in general. For example, nobody wants to dive into a thread about their favorite scanner or their hometown police dispatch only to get mired in an endless debate about encryption.

If do wish to rant about, er, discuss, encryption and live feeds, we have a thread for that:
