I've been hearing digital traffic on Enfield PD's Freq.1 460.550 for the past few days. Sounds like testing. Can anyone confirm? Scan New England shows them with a NAC of E49... I still hear them in analog, but digital traffic here and there.

They switched the other day to allow radio work to the system. P25 not in service ... yet.

Those guys at scan new england are sharp. NAC of E49 is CH1 and NAC of E50 is CH2
Lots of key ups today and a few on CH2 NAC E50 Encrypted...DPW is operating on Enfield town wide interop channel also, nothing on their normal channel. My guess is they are going P25 also

Great, one more town I won't be able to pick up. I wish the price of digital scanner's would come down already.

I just got a Uniden 785 with digital card off E-Bay for $90. Can't listen to CSP but its great for local P25 conv stuff

All the channels I put are correct with frequency, PL/DPL/NAC, and user.

Not all the channels are repeater outs but they are what you would put in a scanner to listen.

I know how you feel, I just got a new commercial radio to do HAM, GMRS, and listen to the Enfield frequencies.

Anyone know when the system will be completely changed over, or will it run mixed-mode for quite some time? I live in town but am not really close to people that would know.

Today they are testing each of 3 radios over several channels. Kenwood P25, Motorola APX, and a Motorola XTS. Odd how they are testing different radios, I thought they replaced them already.

When I checked the FCC ULS in March 2013, I found exactly the same freqs licensed to Enfield - plus 158.835 for DPW - plus 463.2875M, 464.4125 HT, and 464.5875 HT for the VFD - plus 33.84 M for FD. I did not happen to see 460.5875 listed. All of the quoted freqs show as FB2 repeaters, except that 453.6625 and 458.6625 show as 'HT only' (portable radios). Bottom line - the quoted info seems to be a approx 95% match to the FCC ULS info.

I suspect that 33.84 and 158.835 are former freqs. The 463 and 464 freqs might be for fund raising and carnivals or whatever.

A little more FCC ULS research shows that -

460.6125 used to be a mobile freq for the North Thompsonville FD in Enfield

460.5875 is now a expired license for Hazardville FD in Enfield

460.6375 was previously a mobile freq for Thompsonville FD in Enfield

Looks like someone scooped up all the various freqs used by the various FDs in Enfield and put them all together into a townwide system.

Activity Heard

On Saturday 4/6/13 I heard activity. Digital was being keyed up with no one talking.
Interop was being used while radio service worked on 460.575. They may still be working on narrow banding, who knows.
I used to work for NECS and took care of the Enfield stuff. I live in Stafford and used to work out of the Chicopee office so I was always closest to "Fix on your way home". They are now in Windsor Only.
I have a SDR that makes it easy to look at all the freqs.
I'll be listening, will try to report more if I'm around.

Also RS Pro-106, BCt15X, ICOM PCR-1500 Kenwood TS-2000 Can RX VHF - UHF stuff.

Town of Enfield Fire and EMS now streaming using a BCD996XT. The Police Digital Freq has a bit of a weird echo to it however. Anyone have any clues on how to make this go away?
