ESK

With the Uniden BCD396XT Trunk Tracker IV, the wiki.radioreference says that EDACS ESK is supported, but then the PDF manual says that the scanner can TrunkTrack EDACS ESK but no Provoice decoding. I understand that Provoice is not really compatible for APCO-25 systems and that the firmware update is not available for the BCD396XT. I sold this unit on Ebay, and now the guy wants to return it because he says ESK is not supported, Is ESK a working function on this model without the Provoice decoder? and if so how? scanning in analog?

ProVoice decoding is a rather recent possibility anyway, only in the past year as I recall.

The 396XT supports ESK. Send him a link to the manual on Uniden's website.

The scanners ability to follow an ESK EDACS system has nothing to do with P25 or ProVoice.
