All,

I'm only a few miles from KDFW and KDAL in downtown Dallas. Yesterday, I got a new Eton Elite Executive to toy around with but the AIR band is silent. Lonestar, Cowboy, ground and tower are all crickets. My squelch is proper as are my freqs and I have is static. My only variable is I am in Children's Hospital so there me be a lot of interference BUT I am at the window and in eyeshot of KDAL. Any ideas?

I don't know that unit, but does it have any sort of gain control? It may be overload/desense from external sources.

Yes and tried them all. I will try to get outdoors and see if that makes a difference. Lots of RF here but still so close to the airports that I'd expect to hear something. AM & FM are good.

Hospitals are horrible places for monitoring. If the construction materials weren't enough to deafen your receiver, all of the intentional and spurious RF will take care of the rest. In a window like that, you'll probably need to be able to put a MK I eyeball on the antenna from where you stand to be able to hear it.

I have a E³ as well, and the airband performance leaves much to be desired.

I'm suspecting that.
