The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

Hello everyone, I have a 100P with a pretty good feature set, some of which I don’t fully understand. I have P25 conventional, trunking, and phase two along with encryption, mdc-1200, type 99, OTAP, and OTAR, all the bands (wideband enabled), plus gps, and bt. I understand what those all do and for the most part, how to use them.

What I don’t understand is what feature 12 ‘Digital Voice’ adds over what P25 already offers. I also don’t understand feature 57 ‘TSBK on an analog channel’. From reading, I think 57 could mean that the if the radio were inhibited, it could be uninhibited over the air, but even if I figured that one out, feature 12 is still a mystery.

Any help is appreciated as always. If there is a legend somewhere in the Harris docs which explains each feature, I’d love to know where to find that!

Have a great day everyone.

What are you trying to do with the radio exactly? A lot of those features will be totally useless (especially OTAR, OTAP etc) unless you happen to have your own multi-million dollar hobby P25 trunking system ...

Right, I realize several of them probably won’t be used. I’m just wanting to fully understand what feature 12 and 57 actually do. That’s it! Used or not, I just want to know.

Thanks!

Feature 12 could be AEGIS/Provoice, IIRC.
Feature 57 TSBK sends a P25 ID on an analog channel. Similar to FDNY's TPS system.

I wish I could figure out what all the features are in my radio. I see some advertised as having all features on Fleabay and they show about six in the ad. I know they have no clue as mine has a bit more. And no, these are not Photoshop'd.

That looks like a very rare Demo unit to me ;)

Aegis and ProVoice are not supported by the XG-100P.

80 features are what technically "can" be supported, in total, across the entire PSPC radio line. No single radio type supports 80 and there currently aren't 80 features available yet.

A demo unit uses a demo feature string, created by L3HARRIS, that enables all 80 of the feature bits, regardless of the number of features available and the radio type.

prcguy's XG-100P has every feature the XG-100P supports, enabled.

AES FTW
@TDR-94 There’s more than 80? I was commenting on the list on prcguy’s radio, not saying my legend is comprehensive…
-B
There are several features that don't have a corresponding integer (TDMA CC, HVTDMA, VIDA ID, In-band alias, etc...). 62 is single key AES (to add to your list)

Thanks everyone for the insight! This is all very interesting! So does anyone know what specifically 12 Digital Voice is if it’s not aegis and or provoice? (Sounds like those modes aren’t supported…) Is it related to P25 or is there some other mode? Just trying to figure out what that one means!

Thanks,
Brian

09 Type 99 Encode and Decode is a feature I wish my radio had. It's more of a "would be nice to have" rather than a need. I called around / emailed a few dealers in my general area and haven't had much luck. I'm not sure how to get that feature and what the potential cost would be.

The fact that is has wideband enabled, BT, GPS, P25C and all bands is excellent though.

You know you can’t scan when on a channel with type 99 mute enable. Also the t99 alert tone is really awful (three low pitch beeps) when using it to alert in an emergency especially when you’re in a break room with other people talking

All Harris radios are like this. We've got around it by attaching an obnoxious alert tone to the end of our paging tones.
