Fox 13 reports two fatalities

I have close friends who lives in the same subdivision a couple of blocks from this unfortunate incident. I was on the way home from work and stopped at their place when this whole thing occurred. It sounded like a bomb going off and with Camp Williams nearby I didn't think much of it until I saw a huge header to the southwest of my friends home. Naturally curiousity and concern took over
Leaving our radios and the cars at home (I MIGHT ADD!), we ran up to the scene, or as close to the scene as we dare because there was a wide area of debris. Ash and soot was in the remaining snow a block away! There was a bed a half block down the street from the explosion and a recliner on the roof of the home next door. The soffit on the neighboring home was blown out at the garage and the steel door was blown outward. There were homes nearby with broken windows and the home involved was gone sans the garage area and that was on fire. This was a two story home with a three car garage that was maybe barely a couple of months old.
There was fire units from Saratoga, Eagle Mountain, Lehi and American Fork. The North County Tactical Rescue was paged and was there for nearly five hours, well into the evening with a trackhoe pulling apart the floor of the home to look for the two missing people: the homeowner and a Questar Gas employee.
It just came over Fox 13 that the bodies of those two were located in the basement of the home near the front. A very unfortunate situation that never should have happenned! Speculation is that employees digging phone lines in the subdivision hit a gas line earlier in the day, something that happens all to frequently out here in the new home zone!
The first house fire fatalities in the nine year history of Saratoga Springs.

Peace
