External Sound card

I have upgraded my computers to Windows 10 and eliminated a PCI sound card and replaced it with a $8 external sound card. Problem - with the old set-up I fed two scanners in to the sound card, one on the left and the other on the right. All worked fine. Now with the new system, the left and right are not separated when I use "RadioFeed" to stream my scanners. Question - Are the cheap usb sound cards not able to split the audio or am I missing a setting somewhere?

I think that you need an adapter to combine the two mono scanner feeds into a single stereo plug. Your external sound card has a single stereo jack rather than individual L-R jacks that you previously had.

Many of the inexpensive USB sound cards only have a mono "Microphone" input (Red jack) for recording that cannot receive seerate L and R channels. On your computer's sound card you were probably using the stereo "Line-In" input (Blue Jack) which provides 2 inputs (L and R channels) on the one 3.5mm jack. You will likely need to find a USB sound card with a stereo Line-In jack. These usually cost more. Here is an example:

This is the USB audio interface I use. Not dirt cheap, but you get what you pay for. It has separate inputs for left and right.
