BCD436HP/BCD536HP: Extream audio problems

This is the first uniden scanner I have bought since the 396xt and it's a disaster. I have 2 Pro-668's and a Whistler WS1040 the audio on all is perfect and clear and lvl. On this 436HP the audio is nearly impossible to understand. At times the dispatcher is so low I can't hardly hear them while police medics and fire units replying are so loud it sounds like it's going to bust the speakers so loud and so much bass. then other times the dispatcher is so loud and the units you can hardly hear. These are all on the same system. I tried AGC is does nothing. This scanner is pretty much useless. Do you guys know how to fix this? I would like to see if there is a fix before I try to sell it.

I used the zip code option to program not the software because I do not have a PC but I don't see how that would correct the problem.

Also I seen there is a 1.26 firmware mine has .25 would that effect this issue?

1.26 are the version with much improved audio quality to get rid of the bass that overstress the speaker and now it handles the dynamics of the audio much better.

I have only had a 436 for a couple of weeks, installed the .26 firmware as soon as I got the radio. The audio levels still go to both extremes, mush more so than ever on my PSR-800. I hope that future firmware will improve it...it can get embarrassingly loud if turned up enough to hear "normal" transmissions, still have to use replay and hold close to ear for the soft transmissions.

In Sentinel in favorites list you can set the volume for each site/ department up or down , here is how to do that, go to the favorites list that is giving you trouble, go to edit favorites list, than go to department, than to channel scroll over to where you see Volume Offset, that is were you can turn up the volume or turn down the volume this of course is all in Sentinel.

Installed the newest firmware and made adjustments via the software. no difference. Audio is out of control. LOUD then silent. This scanner is literally useless for my area when all others makes and models not Uniden are clear as a bell and are perfect. Thanks for the help tho guys. Just going to sell it and put it towards a TRX model. Again thanks for the help. I appreciate it.

Even after the update and tweaking via the software the audio still sounds likes its going blow the speakers when units respond to dispatch.. then 2 minutes later dispatchers sounds like they will blow the speakers and units resoponing is so low you can't hear them.. wtf kinda issue is that? This scanner is one hell of a mystery.
