Anyone by chance catch the frequencies used by the F18 Super Hornet West Demo team this year?

As far as I know, the Super Hornet demo teams do not have a discrete air-to-ground frequency. Most of the coordination done with demo teams is usually reading off flight data; in a two-seater, the WSO can handle that. All aircraft will be on the air boss frequency; the second radio may be set to air show discrete (PA feed for "live from the cockpit," or air-to-air used by the Tailhook Legacy Flights).

At the Indy Air Show last week, the East Coast team used the air boss frequency alone; the only comms during the demo were telling the announcer which maneuver was coming up next.

I concur with the general opinion. The Navy doesn't seem to use an A2G frequency for a spotter. The F-22 and F-15 have a spotter and the pilot will often verify altitude readings. Since the Thunderbird accident where the pilot mis set his altimiter, I'm guessing they want to be really sure it doesn't happen again.

I need to pay closer attention to the F-16 demo and see if the hypothesis that this is a 'one seater' operation. Specifically, in the case of a single seat fighter, they need a ground observer to verify altitude.

But one other thing I've noticed is that the Navy doesn't use a spotter on their single seat F-18 demos either...

The F-15E demo is a two seater with the Pilot and WSO and they still use a spotter on 376.025

I'm in agreeance with everyone else that the Navy Hornet Demos simply don't use them. After seeing this thread i can now enjoy the demos better anf quell the searching a little.
