• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I can clone my F3-2 radios directly (radio-to-radio) via the OPC-474 cable and I'm supposed to be able to do the same thing with my F3001 radios (based on the cloning software help file.) But I can't make it work. Has anyone tried it?

Don't think that this can be done on this radio.

Seems that the radios with advanced features such as the F4001 (MDC, with stun/kill and selective calling) they don't have the Radio to Radio Clone option.

Mostly because with these radios it is very possible to have a radio that has a unique personality that would cause issues on a radio system if it was copied exactly and put into use on a system that requires unique personalities.

Also with advanced feature radios like this - where a personality that is unique it allows for dealer protection on systems where air time might be used with some of the mentioned features.

The help file within the CS-F3000 programming software (admittedly not an infallible information source) says the following:

If "Inhibit" is selected, data cloning operation between transceivers is also inhibited.
The procedure for the transceiver-to-transceiver cloning:
1. Turn the transceivers OFF.
2. Connect the OPC-474 CLONING CABLE to the [SP] jacks of the master transceiver and the sub transceiver.
The master transceiver is used to send data to the sub transceiver.
3. While pushing [Upper] and [Lower], turn the master transceiver ON to enter the cloning mode.
Turn the sub transceiver ON normally.
4. Push [PTT] on the master transceiver to transfer data to the sub transceiver.
5. After cloning is completed, turn the both transceivers OFF. And then turn the transceivers ON again to exit the cloning mode.

My F3 radios have a display that helpfully says "CLonE" when it's in clone-mode. No display on the F3001 so no feedback.
