Those were the "good ole days" when the Bronx was burning. Mostly landlords burning down vacant tenements for insurance money. Then that trend slowly started to spread to Brooklyn. I remember Engine Company 283 pulling up first due to the vicinity of Rockaway Avenue and Linden Blvd in Brooklyn and upon his arrival screaming for a full fifth alarm to be transmitted.
To the credit of the FDNY dispatchers and Supervisors ,most of this traffic was handled manually, in pre-Computer Assisted Dispatch days, using mostly "running sheets" and chip boards.
