This question broaches the radio topics, but also delves lightly into the IT end of things as well.
A few questions about FDNY's EFAS system.
1. I've read that the EFAS system displays the member attached to the radio's NAME as well as riding position. Assuming that every member doesn't have their own personal radio issued, how does the EFAS system correlate a name with the member. I'm assuming members are signed into an accountability system at the onset of their tour that links their name with the radio they're using, which in turn integrates with the EFAS.
2. In regards to the swapping out of a broken radio, does the radio replacing a broken radio get programmed with the broken radio's ID number, or is a new number for the replacement radio added to the EFAS system?
3. Who is responsible for after-hours handling of broken radio equipment in the FDNY?
