Hi,

I have a really small feature request. On my SDS100, when I run it in Search with Scan and it finds a transmission on search, the text associated with what I think is called the "squelch" is blinking. The text area I'm referring to is the one that reads something like "Color Code: 10" or "CTCSS 241.8Hz". The problem is it only blinks, of course, for the duration of the received transmission. So it's really difficult to note what it says for an average length transmission. I don't think there's much benefit from it blinking. By making it not blink everyone can easier see the squelch type which will help when gathering info to submit to RR.

Best,
-Jeff

If you run conventional discovery mode instead it'll log found frequencies & tones when you choose "Review discovery" & you can scroll through them at your own pace. Proscan also logs frequencies & tones quite nicely

Yes, I'm familiar with that mode but it precludes normal scanning. I do run Proscan though and somehow didn't notice it was logging freq and tone on the left side of the grid, thanks!

Another possibility when out in the field & don't feel like lugging a laptop/tablet around to run Proscan is using the Record function, can be used during normal scanning. When you review the transmissions, hit "pause" when you encounter the channel you're looking for and the tone will remain on the screen (albeit still flashing) until you tell it to resume

The blinking are to indicate that scanner are searching for the code, either digital or analog, and have found a valid one that have not been stored on that frequency. Doing search ranges does not have anything stored to the frequencies so it will always blink but scanning can be set to either use fixed values or search for them and will then blink to make you aware of that it has found a code on that frequency. It's a very helpful feature and should not be changed.

Sure but if you're doing a search and need to see the code to submit it to RR, the blinking makes it appear for a fraction of a second total on a 5 second transmission. But I do respect your position and knowledge and my request is probably not the best idea.

I always have a 240 sec recording going so I easily can push the replay button and listen to a new or unknown transmission over and over again and can pause the replay to look at the information. I've had that going in my HP1 for almost 10 years now and I have used it daily with the original SD card.

Yep, even the much older BC780XLT had a blinking tone indication when it was in Tone Search mode. I like that as it makes you more aware that a tone was found.

That "240 seconds of record" is nominal at best. Sometimes it will play the past couple of mins, sometimes one transmission, and goes back into "presskey" mode. And since the latest FW revision, My SDS100 sometimes displays DCS/PL and UID's on playback, it's kind of hit or miss.

Good thing about the G5, is you have lots of playback time. Unfortunately, you can't see the UID's on playback.

Yes, it's a bit strange that it records for a set time and not activities for 240 sec. It should have been easy to have it under "squelch" control like the user recordings? One could use the user recording permanently and manually erase older recordings periodicly but it often makes keypresses erratic and slow whenever the recordings build up when you forget to erease in time.
